Eddie Stobart and Warrington – growing together

We’re proposing to build a new national distribution centre next to our Warrington headquarters in Appleton, creating 730 new full-time jobs. This multi-million pound investment will secure the future of
Eddie Stobart in Warrington.

Transport and logistics is one of the key economic sectors in Warrington.

The town is one of the best-connected places in the UK – its transport links are second to none.

We will invest over £6million in roads around Appleton:

  • £2.5m works on Barleycastle Lane including carriageway widening and new pedestrian and cycle facilities
  • £2m works on M6 J20 including localised approach widening and new signals
  • £20k cycle extension as part of the developing cycle route network for Warrington
  • £600k for the national distribution centre staff shuttle bus
  • £1.4m for A50/Grappenhall Lane roundabout works and general junction improvements

Eddie Stobart currently supports 950 jobs in the local Warrington economy. The national distribution centre will create 730 new jobs for both us and our suppliers. The average salary at Eddie Stobart is £32,000.

We first applied for planning permission last year and, despite support from Warrington’s planning officers, the scheme was turned down by councillors. We are now applying again. You can view the planning application (number 2019/34739) on Warrington Council’s website.
