This bank holiday weekend Eddie Stobart delighted spotters and truck enthusiasts at the Peterborough Truckfest.

Despite the freak hail and snow storms that battered the country in the week leading up to the event, the weather held off for most of the weekend and festivalgoers flooded into Eddie Stobart’s stand.

Once in the stand, fans could see some of the company’s famous trucks and equipment, including a brand new mechanical offload trailer, rail containers and a Wirth-converted unit and trailer, and they could grab a free tea or coffee and a KitKat, kindly donated by Nestle, from a converted cab while they watched partners AST Signs live-wrap a new truck and hold a contest to name it that day. The tea and coffee cab proved to be very popular and was manned tirelessly by the hospitality staff, who handed out more than 5,500 cups and KitKats and took donations to Eddie Stobart’s chosen charity – When you wish upon a Star – for whom they raised nearly £1,200. 

Also at the event was the recruitment trailer; the team spoke to countless drivers over the course of the weekend and recorded employment enquiries from over 100 potential new drivers. In their first official outing the ‘Trampers’ team were spreading the word about Eddie Stobart’s new truckstop brand, directing them to their website, and asking drivers to complete a survey to find out what they are looking for in a truckstop. And the Eddie Stobart shop was swarmed constantly, selling all manner of merchandise to the weekend’s Eddie Stobart spotters and trucking fans.

The company once again took the opportunity to thank its employees for all of their hard work and laid on hospitality for the whole weekend for any member of staff and their family. The food was of an exceptional standard, prepared entirely by the Trampers chefs, and over the weekend the hospitality staff served hundreds of meals to employees from all over the country.

The weekend was a great success; the company made some new friends and relished the opportunity to attract more drivers, get the word out about the new truckstops brand ‘Trampers’, award its staff, and entertain the festival-going public. There was a genuinely happy and friendly atmosphere in the air around Eddie Stobart’s stand and everyone involved can’t wait for the next one.

The company would like to thank Neale and Julie Burdon and the teams from maintenance, commercial, administration, reception, finance, truckstops, training, recruitment, promotions, McLennan Electrical Services and AST Signs for arranging the event and for doing a great job of looking after its employees and the public. Even Executive Chairman William Stobart and CEO Alex Laffey made appearances.
