Eddie Stobart backs Renault teenage star for special double-header event at Circuit Paul Ricard, le Castellet, France
Current UK Clio Cup Championship leader Jack Young will compete at the special Renault Sport Clio Cup Open event at Circuit Paul Ricard later this month (21-23 June) for Eddie Stobart Racing, after an exciting new partnership has been announced.
Confirming their title sponsorship by revealing their striking new race car, Eddie Stobart and Young look a force to be reckoned with as the number 1 Clio gets set to compete in a capacity 50 car grid at one of the biggest sporting events in the world at the French circuit.
Under the guidance of Mike Ritchie and Team MRM, the same outfit that brought Jack to glory at the Clio Cup International at Paul Ricard in November last year, Eddie Stobart Racing and Jack Young hope to repeat that success this time when the best of Europe battle it out for victory on the big stage.
Supporting the prestigious Formula 1 Grand Prix alongside its F1 Racing team, the Clio Cup Open is sure to provide intense and lively action for the fans with the best of European talent set to go wheel to wheel.
The Northern Irish teenage sensation has been a standout performer since making his debut in car racing in 2017, winning the Clio Cup Junior Championship and the Clio Cup International in 2018 and becoming the youngest ever pole sitter and race winner in the UK Clio Cup Championship this year. With his lightening speed and flamboyant style, Jack Young has caught the attention of many and this fantastic new sponsorship deal will only further enhance the profile of this young British talent.
David Simpson, Special Operations Director at Eddie Stobart said, “Here in the Special Operations arm of the business we are already intrinsically involved in the logistics and operations of the F1 paddock, but we felt the time was right to get behind a young British talent and put our name to an emerging success story on track in motorsport. It was clear to us that Jack is not just exceptionally fast, he’s got a special ingredient, and this makes him the perfect ambassador for our brand. We believe he has a great future ahead of him in the sport and we want to be associated with that success. With its striking Eddie Stobart chrome livery, the number 1 Renault Clio will be hard to miss at Paul Ricard, and with Jack behind the wheel we are all genuinely excited!”
Jack Young Renault Clio Cup racing driver commented, “This new title sponsorship means a great deal to me and in a way has helped me believe in myself that little bit more. You can’t not be motivated by having Eddie Stobart all over your race car and suit. I’m representing a big name now and will be giving it everything to do them proud. Becoming International Champion last year was a big moment in my career, and we learnt a lot from that achievement. Results are the only thing I’m interested in from here on in, and it’s important to convert this excitement into success.”
Jack Young returns to racing this weekend in the UK Clio Cup (15 and 16 June) at the Croft circuit in Yorkshire and hopes to maintain his form from Donington Park when he dominated with a double pole position, double race win and double fastest lap. He currently sits top of the standings.
