Seventeen-year-old Jack Young had a successful trip to Germany as he wowed the Formula 1 stage with his dominance in the Renault Clio Cup Open series.

Jack’s success started on Saturday, when he claimed double pole position with two sensational qualifying laps. Taking the chequered flag to win both International Clio Cup races on-track, Young shone from start to finish, confirming he really is “the one to beat”.  Heartbreak then struck with an official 30 second time penalty for “exceeding track limits” in race two, pushing him down the order to P10.

Running under the Eddie Stobart Racing banner, Jack Young was unstoppable in every session in his Renault Clio, proving that once again, Britain is home to some of the best up and coming young drivers. Young leaves Germany with his head held high, despite the penalty, having dominated in front of the most respected motorsport professionals in the world.

Young had this to say:

“It was a storming weekend overall, and an incredible experience for myself and the team.”

“The team at MRM for Eddie Stobart Racing have shown we can consistently run at the front, on one of the world’s biggest stages.”

“The support of Eddie Stobart and MRM enabled me to be in the best possible position going into this weekend, and I am very proud of the job myself and the team have done. I can’t thank them enough for everything they do for me.”

“It’s a shame about the penalty at the end, but that definitely doesn’t take away from the endless positives. There’s so much we can take from the weekend, especially the consistency of the pace we have and the reliability of the car.”

“Also, the amount of good luck wishes I’ve had throughout the weekend on my social channels has been incredible, and I’d like to thank everyone for supporting me through the highs and the lows.”

“I’m back out at Snetterton next weekend for the start of the second half of the season in the UK Clio Cup. After losing my win today, I’m hungrier than ever for another win and I’ll be doing everything I can to make sure that happens.”

“I’m determined to come back with a bang at Snetterton!”

“Now it’s time to clear my head and refocus, before heading to Norfolk to get my Championship lead back – I can’t wait to get back out already!”
